Moninder Singh Pandher, who was recently awarded death penalty in one of the Nithari killings case, is still in a state of shock and spends most of his time inside his cell offering prayers, a top jail officer said on Tuesday.

"After the verdict, his lifestyle has changed. Now he does not teach English to other inmates as done earlier and spends the whole day workshipping Goddess Durga," Jail Superintendent V K Singh said.

Businessman Moninder Singh Pandher and his servant Surinder Koli were sentenced to death by a special court on February 13 for rape and murder of a 14-year-old girl Rimpa Halder, one of 19 victims in the sensational Nithari serial killings.

The jail official said Koli was also "shocked" for a day or two but was now behaving normally.
