Petrol prices up Rs 4.47/litre, diesel Rs 6.46 in last 5 weeks

New Delhi: Petrol price has been hiked by a steep Rs 4.47 a litre and diesel by Rs 6.46 per litre in the last five weeks, taking retail rates to their highest level in one year.

With international oil going past USD 50 per barrel, oil companies late last night hiked petrol price by Rs 2.58 per litre and diesel by Rs 2.26 a litre. This was the third increase in auto fuel prices since May 1.
