Immediately after taking charge, Pardeshi has asked Sassoon to collect blood and urine samples of the 3000 patients. "I am conducting a meeting with Sassoon Hospital Dean Dr Renu Bharadwaj in PMC today and we will jointly work out a strategy against the possibility of a superbug epidemic in the city.
We are also roping in the Indian Medical Association officials to enforce the policy against antibiotics in the civic hospitals," he said. Pardeshi added that antibiotics will be completed stopped over all the counters of PMC hospitals. "We will also make patients aware of the use of antibiotics."
Pardeshi is also in touch with the National Institute of Virology and Serum Institute to tap the possibility of developing a vaccine to fight against the superbug. "We should be ready to face any kind of eventuality. Hopefully my experience of containing Swine flu in the city will help me in this situation too," he said.
New pmc hospitals
With the present 43 hospitals in the city, Pardeshi said four more hospitals in the amenity space owned by PMC.
The locations are:
Bopodi- Diagnostic and Endoscopic Center: 60 beds
Kharadi- Trauma, Maternity and General Hospital: 100 beds
Kothrud- Maternity and General Hospital: 100 beds
Hermes Heritage, Nagar Road - Diagnostic and Nephrology: 60 beds
