Nine artists from the city, who are headed to Mumbai to showcase their art, tell WHAT's ON why they prefer the Mumbai art circuit Nine well-known artists from Pune will be exhibiting their work at Mumbai's Museum Gallery till April 12. The exhibition includes abstract, figurative, acrylic, fine art photography as well as wooden sculptures.

He put in a lot of effort to bring together some of the finest artists of Pune. "As I had already booked the Museum Gallery in Mumbai, I decided to organise a group exhibition. I contacted several artists, but only nine responded positively and, today, they are exhibiting their work with me," says Kudapane. The paintings are a combination of various themes and ideas. While some concentrate on nature, others capture human postures. The exhibition has a total of 100 paintings, 21 photographs and 40 sculptures. The artists are positive about the success of the show as they feel that Mumbai has a large number of art lovers. Kudapane states that people in Mumbai appreciate art more and always give positive remarks, which rarely happen in Pune. "Among the artists, there are some, who are exhibiting their work for the first time and we are hopeful that the variety will be appreciated by the Mumbai art circuit," says Kudapane.u00a0 After the exhibition, the artists plan to take their work to Lalit Kala Academy, New Delhi, depending on the popularity of the show. Artists &gt;&gt;Surendra Kudapane is a graduate from Abhinav Kala Mahavidyalaya, Pune and he uses various media in his art. He experiments with his compositions innovatively, using knives, rollers, brushes and transparent layer of colours. &gt;&gt;Gangadas Machcha is an artist without any formal training. His paintings reflect the powerful play of energies in the universe. &gt;&gt;Vrushali Gohad's paintings reflect her young heart and teenage fantasies.u00a0 She works on both figuratives and abstracts.u00a0 &gt;&gt;Shrihari Thosar is a young artist whose paintings use the forms of squares and rectangles whichu00a0 have been merged to give a feel of a collage. &gt;&gt;Sade Wane experiments with delicate forms of creation, which evolve to generate a feel of its own. &gt;&gt;Ramesh Gujar adores the beauty of women's mind and his paintings revolve around the dimensions of feminine energies. uPancham Lunawat is a graduate from Abhinav Kala Mahavidyalaya and mostly does abstract paintings. &gt;&gt;Jay will be displaying more than 20 photographs on landscapes and nature. He prefers altering the visuals with lens effects, giving it a feel of paintings. &gt;&gt;Ramesh Ghone sculpts in wood and strives to promote environmental awareness.
