Kishen Pahalwan, one of the most notorious gangsters of Delhi, took oath as a corporator at the Town Hall office of the Municipal Corporation of Delhi on Thursday. Pahalwan, serving a jail term on several murder charges, was allowed parole for the oath taking ceremony. According to MCD spokesperson Deep Mathur, Pahalwan came to take the oath after seeking special permission from the jail authorities following summons from Delhi Mayor Kanwar Sain who was the presiding officer for the oath ceremony. Interestingly, as the leader walked into the Town Hall to take oath, a bevy of cops surrounded him. To secure him? Pahalwan contested the election as an Independent candidate from the Dichaun Kalan ward. The seat was vacated by his brother Bharat Singh, who was elected to the Assembly. pic/ Subhash Barolia
