The cop chased the criminals for 7 km

A bike-borne robber was arrested after he and his accomplice shot and injured a policeman near Geeta colony in east Delhi on Sunday. Saleem, 32, was arrested and his motorcycle was seized. His accomplice managed to flee.

The two had snatched a hand bag from a couple near Kashmere Gate ISBT. But Constable Azad Veer, who was on a patrol, chased them for 7 km till Gita Colony in east Delhi. Fearing arrest, Saleem shot at Azad Veer with the bullet piercing his right thigh.

"Saleem was caught by two constables who had reached the spot. The robbers' bike has been seized, while efforts are on to trace the second robber," the police said.
