After meeting him, Kataria was promised that he would make crores of rupees, only if he performed some poojas and havans. “The Baba (Mishra) told Katariya that he knew several builders who had gotten rich due to the poojas and havans that he had carried out. He demanded Rs 7 lakh from Katariya to perform the poojas, but did not carry out any pooja or havan. When Katariya inquired about it, they asked him to accompany them in his car to Igatpuri, and on the way killed him,” said a police officer from Nagpada police station.
