Jaipur: A tiger, who killed a forest guard recently in Ranthambore National Park, was today shifted to Sajjangarh Biological Park in Udaipur to provide him another territory.
The decision to shift the tiger was taken yesterday on the recommendations of a committee which was constituted after the incident of May 8, an official said.
"After being tranquilised, the big cat was sent to Sajjangarh Biological Park by road today. This was done after the committee gave its report suggesting shifting of the tiger, who has attacked humans four times," Y K Sahu, Field Director, Ranthambore National Park told PTI.
The big cat- T-24- will be initially kept in an enclosure in Sajjangarh park.
"We have shifted the tiger to Sajjangarh for the time being and a decision to shift him to another sanctuary from there may be taken later so that he could be provided comparatively big territory," he said.
The officer said the population of big cats, which after today's shifting stands at 57, was on the rise causing incidents like human-animal conflict and territorial fights which, he said, was needed to be managed.
