New Delhi:&nbsp;Nearly 40 years after the then&nbsp;Railway Minister Lalit Narayan Mishra was killed in a bomb&nbsp;blast at a function at Samastipur Railway Station in Bihar, a&nbsp;Delhi court on Monday convicted four persons of&nbsp;murder and criminal conspiracy.&nbsp;
Timeline of the 1975 murder case of then railway minister Lalit Narayan Mishra:
Jan 2, 1975: Mishra goes to Samastipur to declare open the Samastipur-Muzaffarpur broad gauge railway line. A bomb explosion on the dais seriously injures him.
Jan 3, 1975: Mishra dies at the railway hospital in Danapur.
Jan 7, 1975: Case was handed to Central Bureau of Investigation.
Nov 1, 1975: CBI files charge sheet in the case in a Bihar court.
Dec 17, 1979: Case shifted to Delhi on Supreme Court's order as first case in country to have been transferred outside state by apex court for fear of destruction of evidence.
1981: Charges framed against the accused.
Oct 12, 2011: SC expresses shock and surprise and seeks status report from Centre.
Aug 17, 2012: The Supreme Court directs trial court to conclude the trial by holding daily hearing. It also denies quashing case proceedings on the ground in the last 37 years.
Sep 12, 2012: Final arguments begin.
Sep 14, 2012: CBI tells Delhi court that Ananda Margas were behind the murder
Sep 12, 2014: Delhi Court reserves its verdict.
Nov 10, 2014: Court defers verdict to Dec 8.
Dec 8, 2014: Court convicts Santoshananda, Sudevananda, Gopalji and advocate Ranjan Dwivedi for the murder of Mishra and two others. Court takes in custody all the four convicts and fixed Dec 15 for hearing arguments in quantum of sentence.
