Tourists pay 2 pc more tax at 20 MTDC resorts

Tourists visiting resorts belonging to the Maharashtra Tourism Development Corpor-ation (MTDC) in 20 select locations in the state are now paying 2 per cent more than the original 15 per cent luxury tax levied by the corporation.

The reason is that MTDC has invited private hotels to operate its tourist resorts at the selected 20 locations, and is allowing them to charge two per cent extra luxury tax on room tariff and on extra guest charges.
