According to an official statement by Air India, “Flight AI314 (Delhi–Hong Kong, 23 Sept) and AI315 (Hong Kong–Delhi, 24 Sept) stand cancelled due to the adverse weather forecast from Typhoon Ragasa in Hong Kong.”
The airline has extended full refunds or a one-time complimentary rescheduling in the same class to all affected passengers.
“We regret the inconvenience caused by this situation beyond our control. Passengers are being offered full refunds or a one-time complimentary rescheduling in the same class. Operations to and from Hong Kong will resume once conditions permit safe flying,” the statement added, according to the ANI.
Air India has also issued 24x7 helpline numbers for passenger support -- 011-69329333 / 011-69329999.
“Safety of our passengers remains our highest priority,” the airline said.
The disruption follows the suspension of all passenger flights at Hong Kong International Airport for a 36-hour period -- from 8 pm on September 23 to 8 am on September 25-- due to Super Typhoon Ragasa, as per a statement from Qantas Airways, the ANI reported citing a report by Reuters,
Meanwhile, in a significant expansion move, the Air India group has announced plans to launch commercial flights from the upcoming Navi Mumbai International Airport (NMIA), operated by Adani Airport Holdings Ltd., once the airport’s first phase becomes operational.
This strategic collaboration underscores the group’s long-term ambition to enhance domestic and international connectivity, supporting India’s emergence as the world’s third-largest air passenger market by 2030.
In the initial phase, Air India Express, the group’s low-cost carrier, will operate 20 daily departures (equivalent to 40 Air Traffic Movements) from NMIA, linking the new airport to 15 Indian cities.
By mid-2026, the group plans to scale up operations to 55 daily departures (110 ATMs), including up to 5 international flights per day. By the Winter 2026 schedule, operations are projected to rise to 60 daily departures (120 ATMs), facilitating connections to both major domestic and international destinations.
