From darkness to light: Vijay Goel greeting his supporters after filing his nomination on Thursday</td></tr></tbody></table>On Thursday, the BJP candidate from the New Delhi constituency was left in the dark when he was filing his nomination papers as the electricity went out in the Deputy Commissioner's (DC) office at Jamnagar House on Shahjahan Road. The officials on duty summoned the electrician but he was nowhere to be found. Hours later when he reached the DC office, the harried electrician informed the officials that security personnel were not letting him in. "We made several calls to the electrician's office. However, they insisted that the electrician had been sent immediately and they did not know why he had not reached," said an officer from the DC office. The electricity at the DC office went off at around 11 am as soon as the process of filing of nominations started. By the time the electrician arrived, the Delhi police had cordoned off the area, fearing a terror strike. Following terror attack warnings from the Centre, stringent security arrangements are being made at the Returning Officer's office and entry has been restricted. Returning officer and Deputy Commissioner D K Mishra, when contacted, admitted that the power supply to the office remained off for some time due to technical snag on Thursday morning. "But we did not face any major problem. There was enough sunlight in the room," he told MiD DAY.
