Congressman H Viswanath's controversial auto- biography is coming back to haunt him as he hopes against hope for a ticket to contest from Mysore.

"Viswanath earned Krishna's wrath after he mentioned his romance with filmstar B Saroja Devi in his autobiography," said a source in the Congress. "The issue is still haunting him." Viswanath's book Halli Hakki Hadu (Song of a Village Bird) had kicked up a controversy when he published it last year. After this, some party leaders tried to sideline him but he managed to get a ticket to contest the assembly elections from K R Nagar last year. However, he was defeated by a JD (S) candidate. And now, he's hoping for a ticket to contest the Lok Sabha elections A confident Viswanath said: "The high command has asked me to start preparing for elections and I am confident of getting permission to contest." But the Krishna camp including supporters like Tanveer Sait and D Made Gowda were unrelenting during a press conference in Mysore on Sunday. They said they would convince the high command against allowing Viswanath to enter the fray. "Viswanath has lost in the last assembly elections and his constituency does not come in the purview of Mysore," said Made Gowda, an aspirant whom the group is lobbying for. "I don't think his candidature helps the party." Made Gowda was the chairman of Mysore Urban Development Authority (Muda), and became popular for providing sites to the people of the city. Sonia's rally Meanwhile, Viswanath said he would take part in the Congress rally to be addressed by party president Sonia Gandhi at Davanagere on Monday after which the high command would announce the list of candidates. Sources said, Viswanath was likely to get the ticket despite the opposition of local leaders.
