Italian victim of Pune blast will be flown back home in the same dress

Nadia Marcerini

Yoga teacher Eshana Meyer gifted her friend Nadia Marcerini (37) a dress that will drape her body when it is flown to her hometown in Italy in the days ahead. Nadia, who was very cheerful because she was to fly shortly to her family after being in Pune for the last three years, was at the German Bakery on the evening of Saturday, when the bomb went off. "She was a poet, a dreamer. She saw things beautifully. It is sad she died in such an ugly manner," said Meyer, a yoga teacher, who has been in Pune for the last eight years.u00a0

Nadia, who was to party with Meyer and other friends on Saturday night, had called up a common friend from the German Bakery minutes before the blast.

"Minutes before her death, she had spoken to our friend in Mumbai. When her phone couldn't be reached after the blasts, he came over from Mumbai. We found out after 24 hours that she was dead," said Meyer, who had come to Sassoon hospital to sign release papers to claim Nadia's body. "Nadia was to fly to Italy to renew her visa and was very excited about meeting her parents and two siblings. I bought her a dress as a parting gift yesterday because I don't want her mutilated body be the first thing her family sees of her. I want her to look pretty," said Meyer.
