The Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation has launched a demolition drive targeting illegal structures reportedly occupied by Bangladeshi nationals near Chadola Lake. A recent mass operation led by police officials resulted in the identification of over 180 individuals believed to be Bangladeshi nationals living illegally in the region. More than 2,000 police personnel were deployed to the area to assist in the operation and ensure law and order during the demolition process.

The authorities have stated that this is not the first such action, as previous demolitions have also taken place in Bangal Vaas targeting unlawful construction. An FIR has been registered against an individual named Lallu Bihari, who is accused of facilitating fake rent agreements and Aadhaar cards for undocumented immigrants. Bihari allegedly constructed a large farmhouse using forged documents, which has since been demolished by the authorities.

The police are also investigating allegations that Bihari and his associates helped individuals obtain Indian passports illegally. Commissioner Malik added that the entire police force of Ahmedabad has been placed on standby to respond promptly to any unrest.

In a related operation, Umargam Police in Valsad district detained seven undocumented Bangladeshi nationals as part of a state-wide crackdown. Valsad Superintendent of Police, Karanraj Vaghela, stated that the detained individuals will be interrogated, after which deportation procedures will be initiated.
