Marathwada Floods (Maharashtra)

What happened: Heavy rainfall in September triggered widespread flooding across Marathwada and adjoining regions of Maharashtra PIC/ X

Consequences: Crops across 68.69 lakh hectares were destroyed, causing massive losses to farmers

Solution/Govt: The Maharashtra government is preparing a financial assistance proposal for the Centre after a review meeting led by CM Devendra Fadnavis with Deputy CMs Eknath Shinde and Ajit Pawar. PIC/ PTI

Uttarakhand Floods

What happened: Cloudbursts and heavy overnight rainfall caused flash floods, landslides, and infrastructure damage in Uttarakhand and parts of Himachal Pradesh, particularly Uttarkashi and Dehradun

Consequences: Roads, bridges, houses and shops were damaged; several people went missing, and villages were cut off. PIC/ PTI

Impact: Entire regions were isolated, disrupting daily life, transport and communication. PIC/ PTI

Solution/Govt: IAF deployed Mi-17 helicopters, ALH aircraft, and transport planes for rescue. CM Pushkar Singh Dhami visited affected villages and hospitals, assuring relief and monitoring rescue operations. PIC/ PTI

Kerala Floods

What happened: Heavy rains and strong winds inundated low-lying areas across Kerala, uprooting trees and disrupting power supply

Consequences: Homes were flooded in districts like Thrissur, Kannur and Kasaragod, forcing residents into relief camps. PIC/ PTI

Impact: Normal life was disrupted, especially in coastal and low-lying regions

Solution/Govt: The state sanctioned Rs 1 crore to each district collector, Rs 2 crore each to Thiruvananthapuram and Kozhikode, and additional funds to local bodies for monsoon preparedness and flood mitigation. PIC/ PTI

Cyclone Montha (Andhra Pradesh and East India)

What happened: Severe Cyclonic Storm Montha made landfall over interior Andhra Pradesh, affecting Odisha, Telangana, and Chhattisgarh with extremely heavy rainfall

Consequences: Flooding, transport disruptions, and large-scale cancellations and diversions of train services occurred. PIC/ PTI

Impact: Railway operations, daily travel, and essential services were impacted across multiple states

Solution/Govt: CM N Chandrababu Naidu reviewed preparedness via RTGS. Railways activated war rooms, positioned resources strategically, and initiated post-landfall restoration plans. PIC/ PTI

Cyclone Ditwah (Tamil Nadu)

What happened: The remnants of Cyclonic Storm Ditwah caused heavy rainfall over Tamil Nadu and Puducherry, leading to flooding

Consequences: The Manangkondan River overflowed, submerging over 100 acres of paddy fields; three rain-related deaths were reported. PIC/ PTI
