Heavy rainfall battered Delhi-NCR on Tuesday, inundating roads, triggering widespread waterlogging and causing major traffic disruptions across the national capital. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued an orange alert, warning of more spells of rain, thunderstorms and lightning through the day. (PICS/ PTI)

Similar weather conditions are likely to continue on Wednesday and over the next few days

The downpour inundated several roads across the city, slowing vehicular movement and causing traffic congestion. Commuters were seen wading through waterlogged stretches in areas including ITO as rain continued during the morning hours

Meanwhile, Delhi's Indira Gandhi International (IGI) Airport issued a passenger advisory, stating that flight operations are currently normal despite the adverse weather conditions

Airport authorities said on-ground teams are working closely with all stakeholders to minimise disruptions and advised passengers to check the latest flight status with their respective airlines before leaving for the airport

The IMD has urged residents to exercise caution during thunderstorms and heavy rainfall, as isolated incidents of waterlogging and disruption to traffic movement are likely in low-lying areas.
