The Indian Railways has achieved a major milestone in healthcare support by successfully transporting a live heart for the first time through a train, an official statement said on Friday. Pics/Special Arrangement

The heart was transported safely within the required time frame and will be transplanted at the U.N. Mehta Institute of Cardiology and Research Centre in Ahmedabad

The sensitive operation required precise planning and coordination between Indian Railways, the Railway Protection Force (RPF), Gujarat Police and medical teams

After the train reached Ahmedabad railway station, a special green corridor was arranged from Platform No. 1 to the U.N. Mehta Institute of Cardiology and Research Centre

The RPF and Gujarat Police ensured smooth and uninterrupted movement of the medical team carrying the heart, allowing the organ to reach the hospital within the required time for transplantation

Since heart transplants require strict time management, every minute was considered crucial during the transportation process
