Amid the ongoing aviation crisis across the nation, IndiGo on Wednesday cancelled over 60 flights from Bengaluru despite the CEO claiming operations were stable (Pic/PTI)
As per reports, IndiGo on Wednesday has cancelled around 61 flights, including 35 arrivals and 26 departures. The picture shows luggage of the passengers lying around at Indira Gandhi International Airport in Delhi.
After the government slashed IndiGo's winter flight schedule by 10 per cent, or around 220 flights of the nearly 2,200 approved per day, and IndiGo cancelled 460 flights from six metros alone in the last few days
Earlier on Tuesday, the government also ordered a 10 per cent cut in the airline's winter schedule. As seen in picture, Union Civil Aviation Minister Ram Mohan Naidu also held a meeting with Indigo CEO Peiter Elbers
As per the Civil Aviation Ministry's passenger charter, airlines are liable to pay compensation to passengers for flight delays or cancellations under certain situations. Also, airlines have to provide this compensation automatically without passengers having to request it
In view of bringing the situation to normal, aviation safety regulator DGCA on Wednesday has also directed crisis-ridden IndiGo's Chief Executive Officer Pieter Elbers to appear at its office on Thursday and submit a complete report, along with comprehensive data and updates
