The discussions focused on expanding joint military cooperation and addressing current international geopolitical tensions.

The defence talks followed a high-profile meeting on Monday at the Merdeka Palace, where Sheikh Saoud met Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto and delivered a personal message from the Emir of Qatar, Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani.

According to Indonesia's Presidential Secretariat, the leaders reviewed the implementation of a comprehensive bilateral memorandum of understanding signed in Doha in April 2025.

The agreement laid the groundwork for enhanced defence procurement, joint training programmes and strategic intelligence sharing between the two nations.
