Addressing the attendees, Marco Rubio said, “It is the cornerstone of this important partnership between the United States and India, which, as I said, is an incredibly important one. That is the reason why I am here on this visit — to reaffirm those ties and build upon them. We believe that in the months ahead, we will have even more exciting announcements to make regarding the strengthening of relations between the two countries”

Rubio reached Delhi from Kolkata, where he paid tribute to Mother Teresa at the Missionaries of Charity. The Kolkata stop marked the beginning of Rubio's four-day visit to India from May 23 to 26.
