Since Thursday, approximately 14,000 pilgrims have offered prayers at the Amarnath cave shrine, which sits at a high altitude of 3,880 metres
The 38-day annual pilgrimage, known as the Amarnath Yatra, began on Thursday from two main routes: Pahalgam in Anantnag district and Baltal in Ganderbal district
The third group, accounts totall of 6,411 pilgrims, included 4,723 men, 1,071 women, 37 children, and 580 sadhus and sadhvis. They departed in 291 vehicles
Moreover, security across the entire Jammu region has been significantly increased for the Amarnath Yatra, following the terror attack in Pahalgam in April 2025
