The protest march began from the Makar Dwar of Parliament under the leadership of Lok Sabha Leader of the Opposition Rahul Gandhi. The MPs began their march to urge the EC to address their concerns over the alleged "voter theft".
Police put up barricades outside the PTI Building on the way to prevent the MPs, protesting the voter roll revision in Bihar and the alleged poll rigging, from marching forward.
Several opposition MPs, including Leader of the Opposition in the Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi, Shiv Sena (UBT) MP Sanjay Raut, TMC MP Sagarika Ghose and others, were detained by Delhi Police.
The detained MPs were corralled into a bus to be taken to the Parliament Street police station.
Rahul Gandhi, while being detained, told reporters: "The reality is that they cannot talk. The truth is in front of the country. This fight is not political. This fight is to save the Constitution. This fight is for one man, one vote. We want a clean, pure voters' list."
