Police sources said around 200 protesters attempting to reach Jantar Mantar were detained on Friday. Drones were deployed to monitor the movement of people trying to reach the protest site. YouTuber Dhruv Rathee was also detained at his residence in Gurugram’s Sector 56, according to police sources

The protest was called to demand the removal of Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) Gyanesh Kumar over allegations of voter-list manipulation during the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls and changes relating to Form 6, used for voter registration

In a separate preventive measure, police sources said more than 600 people with criminal records had been detained across the national capital’s 15 districts ahead of the proposed protest. The action was aimed at preventing potential law-and-order issues, the sources added

Security checks were intensified at the Singhu Border on the Delhi-Haryana border, while police conducted intensive vehicle checks at the Tulsi Niketan border in Ghaziabad, Uttar Pradesh, where heavy traffic congestion was reported

Police personnel were deployed at key locations, particularly along routes leading to Jantar Mantar and other sensitive areas

horities also intensified surveillance outside the residences of people suspected of mobilising crowds for the demonstration

The security measures included flag marches, increased monitoring and restrictions on movement in sensitive areas as police maintained a strict vigil to prevent any breach of peace during the proposed CJP protest

Meanwhile, the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) has closed entry and exit gates at several metro stations ahead of the protest.
