While the railway authorities have started several festivals and special trains to curb the congestion and overcrowding in trains, the situation on Saturday and Sunday looked concerning
In view of minimising the congestion, Western Railway notified that there are around 75 pairs of special trains for the festive season that are making more than 2,400 trips to ferry passengers
A large number of people were seen at the platforms waiting for their train to arrive so that they could head back to their hometown
Major rush and chaotic situation was seen on routes towards Uttar Pradesh and Bihar days before Diwali at railway stations ahead of Diwali 2025
While situation in some of the metro cities, such as Delhi, Mumbai and Ahmedabad, looked concerning, the Railway Protection Force and other authorities are working in coordination to control the rush
Apart from Western Railways, the Central Railways on Saturday also announced that it will operate 1,702 special trains for the Diwali and Chhath Puja festivals in an effort to help passengers travel to their destinations and join their families on the festival
