A month after the tragic crash of Air India Flight 171 in Ahmedabad that claimed 260 lives, the Aircraft Accident Investigation Bureau (AAIB) has released its preliminary report. The report reveals a shocking mid-air incident where fuel switches for both engines unexpectedly moved from ‘RUN’ to ‘CUTOFF’ seconds after takeoff. Cockpit audio captured a brief, chilling exchange between the pilots — one asking, “Why did you cut off?”, and the other replying, “I did not.” The incident triggered a total loss of power, a failed relight attempt, and a final “MAYDAY” call moments before the crash.
