In a big win for the Hindu side in the Gyanvapi case, the Varanasi district court allowed to offer prayers inside the sealed basement of Gyanvapi Mosque. The court ordered that the barricades in the basement have to be removed in seven days and puja is allowed in ‘Vyas ka Taykhana’. The mosque is located next to the Kashi Vishwanath temple in Varanasi and Hindu litigants in the district court had sought the survey to determine whether a temple existed at the same spot earlier which was proved in the recent survey. The survey of the Gyanvapi mosque premises began after the Allahabad High Court rejected the petition filed by Muslim litigants seeking a stay on the Varanasi court`s order for a scientific survey by the ASI.
