Harvard hit by Trump crackdown: Grants cut, student visas at risk, students protest

Harvard University students and faculty held a rally on May 27 to support international students. This comes as the U.S. government increases pressure on the university, cancelling nearly $3 billion in research grants and moving to block Harvard from enrolling international students. A recent letter from the U.S. The General Services Administration also asked agencies to review or cancel federal contracts with Harvard worth around $100 million. International students make up about 27 per cent of Harvard’s student body. A federal judge temporarily blocked the move to revoke their enrollment. Harvard is now suing the government, saying the actions violate due process and free speech rights. The university claims it’s being unfairly targeted. The legal battle continues as protests grow on campus.
