In a tragic incident, Iran’s President Ebrahim Raisi and Foreign Minister Hossein Amirabdollahian have been killed in a helicopter crash in Iran’s East Azerbaijan province. As per the reports by Iran state media, several senior Iranian officials were also killed alongside Raisi in the helicopter crash in the Dizmar forest, located between the cities of Varzaqan and Jolfa in East Azerbaijan province, The state media in Iran confirmed the deaths. Reportedly, the helicopter that was carrying Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi made a rough landing on May 19. The aircraft had gone missing in the mountains of northwestern Iran. President Raisi was returning from a ceremony to open a dam on Iran’s border with Azerbaijan when his helicopter crashed. Ebrahim Raisi had been in Azerbaijan early on May 19 to inaugurate a dam with Azerbaijan’s President Ilham Aliyev. The Interior Minister told Iran’s state TV that search and rescue teams were able to locate the helicopter but according to earlier reports from state media no sign of life was found among passengers and crew
