NEET re-test row explodes: Modi govt defends Telegram restrictions in Delhi HC
Updated On: 18 June, 2026 10:13 PM IST
The Delhi High Court has reserved its order in Telegram's challenge against temporary restrictions imposed by the Centre ahead of the NEET-UG re-examination. During the hearing, the government made a strong claim, describing Telegram as a potential "new dark web" and alleging that the platform was being used to circulate fake or leaked question papers and coordinate exam fraud. The Centre argued that the restrictions were necessary to protect the integrity of the NEET re-test, which will be taken by over 22 lakh students. Telegram, meanwhile, has approached the Delhi High Court seeking relief from the restrictions.
