Russian drones struck the Ukrainian city of Zaporizhzhia early on Sunday, June 1, according to local governor Ivan Fedorov. He said on the Telegram app that three people were injured, and the attack damaged three apartment buildings, 29 private homes, and important infrastructure. The strike happened just a day before Russia suggested holding a second round of face-to-face talks with Ukrainian officials in Istanbul. However, Ukraine refused to commit to the talks scheduled for Monday, June 2, saying it wanted to see Russia’s proposals first. Meanwhile, a top U.S. senator warned that Russia could face tough new sanctions from the United States.
