The United States of America told the United Nations Security Council on Thursday that it has offered a ceasefire plan to end the war in Ukraine, and that this is the best deal Russia is likely to get. US Acting Deputy Ambassador John Kelley said Russian President Vladimir Putin should accept the offer. "If Russia chooses to keep fighting this terrible war, the U.S. may stop trying to help negotiate peace," Kelley warned. "This deal is Russia’s best chance, and President Putin should agree to it." President Donald Trump, who began his second term in January, promised to quickly end the war in Ukraine. As part of that effort, the U.S. proposed an immediate, unconditional ceasefire. Ukraine agreed to it, but is waiting for Russia to do the same. Since then, the U.S. has been pushing Russia to accept the plan.
