Women activists called for a stringent police action and investigation in the alleged suicide case of television actress Pratyusha Banerjee. Women activist Abha Singh, on the other hand, demanded abolition of Section 309 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) that lays down punishment for attempted suicide.
