York: A man from York has been banned from having sex unless he informs police at least a day in advance.

He has not been convicted of a sexual offence yet but is subject to an interim &ldquo;sexual risk order&rdquo; since he is thought to be unsafe for the public.
For the ruling to be applied, North Yorkshire police had to persuade a court that he is a threat to the public even though he has not committed an offence.
He also has to tell the police with whom he plans to have a relationship or one-night stand with.
Sexual risk orders can be made by a court on an individual &ldquo;who has done an act of a sexual nature and who, as a result, poses a risk of harm to the public in the UK or children or vulnerable adults abroad.&rdquo;
It says that &ldquo;the individual does not need to have committed a relevant (or any offence)&rdquo; for the order to be imposed. A full sexual risk order lasts for a minimum of two years, and breaching one can lead to a prison sentence of up to five years, despite no initial sexual offence conviction.
The man&rsquo;s use of the internet is also under controls which means he must tell police about every phone that he uses to text, call or access the web with.
