Spanish consul in Boston sacked for closing office

The Spanish consul in Boston was sacked as a result of his behaviour in the wake of the twin bombings that took place at the end of the Boston Marathon on Monday.

Sanchez-Teran chose to maintain the usual office hours at the Spanish Consul in Boston and closed doors just two hours after the twin explosions at the finish line of the race that killed three people and injured over 140.u00a0

Ninety-one Spaniards were participating in the Boston Marathon, but despite the presence of so many of his countrymen, the consul decided to shut office. Explaining in an interview on Marca TV, the consul said ‘it was the time to do so’. He also failed to offer a contact number for the families of those Spaniards who were participating in the Boston Marathon. No Spaniard was injured in the attack. u00a0
