Former US presidential hopeful John Edwards (pictured) has finally admitted he fathered a child with one of his staff, while he ran for the White House and his wife of 30 years battled cancer. <img alt="" src="/imagedata/2010/jan/edwards.jpg" border="5" /> Edwards, who was US senator for North Carolina and 2004 vice presidential candidate,u00a0 had initially denied fathering a child during his affair with videographer Rielle Hunter. But yesterday he came clean. "I am Quinn's father," he declared in a statement. He vowed to do "everything in my power" to support his daughter, who is nearly two. "It was wrong for me ever to deny she was my daughter and hopefully one day, when she understands, she will forgive me," he said. He admitted to the affair in August 2008, but denied he was the father of the child until now. He had claimed the affair ended in 2006.
