Ukraine's Air Force reported multiple ballistic missile attacks targeting Kyiv, along with cruise missiles launched from Russian strategic aircraft and the Novorossiysk region. Authorities warned residents to seek immediate shelter as several waves of attacks unfolded.

Videos shared on social media showed hundreds of residents sheltering in Kyiv's underground metro stations during the overnight bombardment. Many families spent the night on station platforms under blankets and inside makeshift tents as explosions echoed across the city.

The missile barrage also struck Dnipro and Kryvyi Rih. Footage from Radushne village near Kryvyi Rih showed heavily damaged buildings, fires burning through the debris, and rescue operations underway following the attack.

Hours before the strikes, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said Ukraine's Air Force had detected preparations for a large-scale Russian assault. He warned that there was a "high probability" the attack would take place during the night.

The attack came a day after Zelenskyy met US President Donald Trump at the White House, where he requested additional air defence systems to help Ukraine defend itself against Russia's continued missile and drone strikes.

In an interview with Fox News, Zelenskyy said Ukraine, the United States and European allies want to end the war, but accused Russian President Vladimir Putin of refusing even a temporary ceasefire despite repeated diplomatic efforts.

More than four years into the Russia-Ukraine war, Moscow continues to target Ukrainian cities with missile and drone attacks. Zelenskyy said Ukraine has strengthened its domestic defence industry and maintained that the battlefield momentum is no longer in Russia's favour.
