A Colombian Air Force C-130 Hercules aircraft crashed just seconds after takeoff from Puerto Leguizamo in the Putumayo region, erupting into flames and leaving a devastating trail of destruction. The aircraft, carrying 121 personnel, went down within two kilometres of the runway, according to officials. At least 66 people have been confirmed dead, with several others critically injured. The impact triggered intense fires, and reports of onboard ammunition exploding further complicated rescue efforts, slowing down emergency response teams in the dense and remote terrain near the Peru-Ecuador border.
