Ecuadorian President Daniel Noboa survived an alleged assassination attempt as his motorcade was attacked by around 500 people throwing rocks and fireworks. Five suspects have been arrested and face terrorism and attempted murder charges. The attacks come amid widespread protests over the government’s diesel subsidy cuts and Indigenous community unrest.
