U.S. President Donald Trump has signaled a sharp shift in strategy over Greenland, moving away from earlier military rhetoric and instead emphasizing financial incentives and diplomatic engagement. According to multiple media reports, discussions are circulating around potential cash offers aimed directly at Greenland’s residents, with figures reportedly reaching as high as one million dollars per person. Trump has publicly ruled out any military action, framing the move as a deliberate effort to de-escalate tensions with NATO allies, particularly Britain and Denmark. The reported incentives, equivalent to approximately £750,000 or €850,000, underscore the scale of the proposal and the seriousness of Washington’s Arctic ambitions.
