Commander Eliminated: Gaza Strike As IDF Escalates Post-Ceasefire Offensive

Updated On: 11 September, 2026 08:11 PM IST

A senior Hamas commander from the Khan Younis Brigade has been killed in an Israeli airstrike in southern Gaza, according to the Israel Defense Forces (IDF), in the latest strike targeting Hamas operatives despite the ongoing ceasefire framework. The IDF identified the slain commander as Hudheifa Muammar, a company commander whom it linked to dozens of attacks and efforts to restore Hamas's military capabilities in the Gaza Strip. Another Hamas operative, Muhammad Bahjat Rashi, was also reported killed in the strike. The Israeli military said its Southern Command will continue operations in Gaza to eliminate what it describes as immediate terrorist threats. The latest developments come despite a ceasefire that brought an end to major fighting, with Israel continuing to carry out strikes over alleged Hamas activity and security threats. WATCH
