Iran’s naval mines blast cargo ship with 2500 containers, Hormuz vessel in flame
Updated On: 15 October, 2026 07:11 PM IST
A cargo ship carrying more than 2,500 containers has reportedly sunk amid rising tensions around the Strait of Hormuz. Iran has attributed the sinking to a naval mine, adding to growing concerns over the safety of commercial shipping in one of the world's most critical energy corridors. However, maritime reports have described the incident involving the Singapore-registered GFS Pride as a strike by an unknown projectile. All 21 crew members were reportedly evacuated safely, with no injuries reported. The available accounts do not independently establish that Iran deliberately sank the vessel or confirm the cause of the sinking.
