Israel's election delivers a tense political showdown as Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and opposition leader Gadi Eisenkot fight for control of the next government. Exit polls put Netanyahu's Likud party among the strongest contenders, but projections leave both major blocs short of the 61 seats needed for a Knesset majority. Eisenkot says voters want change and urges Netanyahu to step away from politics. Arab-led parties could play a crucial role in coalition negotiations. Netanyahu has condemned the prospect of forming a government dependent on Arab parties.
