A federal immigration officer shot a Venezuelan man in the leg in North Minneapolis Wednesday evening during a targeted enforcement operation, intensifying already high tensions between the community and federal law enforcement. According to authorities, the man identified by the Department of Homeland Security as a Venezuelan national. was shot after resisting arrest and assaulting an ICE agent during a struggle. As the officer caught up with him, two additional individuals reportedly attacked the agent with a snow shovel and a broom handle, prompting the officer to fire in self-defense and strike the subject in the leg.
