Typhoon Kalmaegi slammed into the central Philippines with winds up to 205 km/h, killing at least one and forcing tens of thousands to flee. Entire neighborhoods in Cebu and Talisay were submerged, flights grounded, and storm surges up to three meters high threatened coastal towns. The storm is now moving toward Vietnam, where authorities are preparing for a possible second landfall.
