US Strikes Iran's Bandar Abbas Port, Naval Hub Rocked

Updated On: 10 July, 2026 01:51 PM IST

Tensions in the West Asia have escalated sharply after fresh US military strikes were reported across southern Iran, just a day after attacks on commercial shipping in the Strait of Hormuz intensified fears of a wider regional conflict. Videos circulating online appear to show a major strike near Shahid Haqqani Port in Bandar Abbas, one of Iran's most strategically important naval and commercial hubs. Thick orange smoke was seen rising over the area as reports emerged of multiple explosions across Bandar Abbas, Sirik Port and Qeshm Island. According to initial reports, more than 13 explosions were heard across Iran's southern coastal corridor overlooking the Strait of Hormuz, one of the world's most critical maritime trade routes. The reported strikes have fueled concerns over the security of global energy supplies and international shipping. The latest escalation follows attacks on commercial vessels in the Strait of Hormuz that were attributed by reports to Iran-linked forces. The developments have placed renewed focus on the strategic waterway through which a significant share of the world's oil exports passes every day. WATCH
