The Mumbai Central Government Railway Police (GRP) in November 2018 arrested a Borivli resident for molesting a minor girl in a moving local train between Dadar and Prabhadevi railway stations. The victim and her relative had boarded the Churchgate fast local at Vasai and most of the crowd alighted at Dadar. This is when the accused came and sat beside her. He put his hands on her thighs after which she told her uncle. The accused then tried to escape but fellow commuters caught hold of them and started to thrash him. He was then arrested by GRP
A 24-year-old student was allegedly molested by a drug addict at Mumbai's Churchgate railway station on September 25, 2018. The college student from Andheri was on her way to attend a seminar in Colaba when she noticed a man staring at her. As she passed him, he touched the woman inappropriately. She immediately raised an alarm and the accused was arrested. The culprit attempted to evade arrest by slashing his hands with a blade. Despite his antiques, he was apprehended and the police have added the charge of attempt to commit suicide against him along with molestation charges

A 22-year-old researcher from Manipur commuting with her European colleague was allegedly molested on a running train on September 11, 2018. The victim narrated her ordeal on social media. A case was registered under section 354 of the IPC and further probe, including scouring CCTV images of the Harbour line stations. The victim approached Vashi railway police and stated that she was molested on September 11, 2018 by an unidentified man in a general compartment on a train while it was travelling between Vashi and Govandi stations on the suburban Harbour line
On August 27, 2018, a 29-year-old woman was at Kurla station around 9.15 am when a 28-year-old man hugged her and hit her. The accused was identified as a personnel working for the Indian Navy. He was booked under Sections 354, 323, 506 of IPC and arrested
On August 26, 2018, a 23-year-old Chembur resident was hugged and kissed by a 30-year-old man at Kurla station around 8.30 in the evening. The accused was under the influence of alcohol. He was arrested and booked under Section 354 of IPC. This incident happened just a day after a 28-year-old pregnant woman from Ghatkopar was allegedly abused and touched by a man when she boarded the compartment for handicapped, highlighting the spurt in crimes against women in Mumbai local trains
A 19-year-old was arrested from suburban Borivli for flashing a woman in the ladies compartment of a local train in an incident that occurred on May 24, 2017. When the girl boarded the ladies coach at Borivli station, the accused, boarded an adjacent compartment for the handicapped, which is separated by a grill, and unzipped his trousers. The girl clicked a picture of the man and posted it on a social networking site. Incidentally, when she contacted the railway helpline to post a complaint, the operator refused to aid her in any way and only laughed at her predicament and disconnected the call. Using that photo, police began gathering information about the accused and arrested him
An 18-year-old girl registered a case of molestation against a railway staffer at Vashi Government Railway Police (GRP) station on March 29, 2018. He turned and told the person standing behind to move back a little. After a while, he realised that something was being rubbed against his back. When the complainant turned back he saw that the man’s trousers were unzipped and he was pleasuring himself. Fellow commuters caught Sharma and handed him over to the railway police at Ghatkopar station
In an incident that took place on February 1, 2016 on a Dahanu-Churchgate local train on the Western line, a man entered the women’s compartment, stripped and started advancing to molest the women in the compartment. The man appeared to be mentally unstable and his actions led to panic among the women passengers. A 22-year-old MBA student sitting in the ladies compartment of a Churchgate-bound train was stripped and molested by a young man who then jumped off before he could get caught. Once the man boarded and saw that no one was there, he proceeded to tear the woman’s clothes off and molested her. She was later covered up and taken to the nearest RPF post. The incident took place on August 8, 2015. The man was later caught by the GRP after he was seen wearing the same clothes as he was wearing on the night of the incident.
