Israel says it has killed Nihad Riyad Abd al-Rahim Arouq, whom the Israeli military identifies as a Hamas Shati Battalion platoon commander. The IDF claims he took part in the October 7, 2023 attack on Israel and had recently been training Hamas fighters and helping plan attacks on Israeli troops. The strike comes as Israel intensifies military operations across Gaza. A senior Israeli military officer says Israeli forces now control more than 60&#37 of the Gaza Strip, while additional strikes are reported in Gaza City, Khan Younis and the Nuseirat refugee camp.    

The Israel Defense Forces have carried out overnight strikes on four rocket launch positions across the Gaza Strip, claiming the sites were established by terrorist organizations after the ceasefire came into effect. According to the IDF, the launch positions were prepared to fire rockets at Israeli civilians and military personnel, posing an immediate threat. The military said precision-guided munitions and aerial surveillance were used during the operation to minimise civilian harm. The strikes come amid growing concerns in Israel that militant groups in Gaza are rebuilding capabilities and preparing for future conflict despite the ceasefire agreement.
