India’s biggest medical entrance exam is heading for a historic transformation. Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan has announced a complete shift of NEET UG to a fully computer-based format following the massive paper leak controversy that triggered outrage across the country. The Centre has now confirmed that the traditional OMR-based system will be phased out, with NEET set to join the list of major national online examinations. The government says the move is aimed at tightening exam security, preventing future leaks, and bringing more transparency to the system after allegations of malpractice shook confidence among lakhs of aspirants and parents. Along with the digital shift, authorities have also announced stricter verification protocols, extended exam duration, fresh admit cards for re-test candidates, and a full refund of exam fees for students appearing again.
