Tumbler Ridge Secondary School in British Columbia was transformed into an active crime scene following a devastating school shooting that left 10 people dead, including the suspected shooter and at least 25 others injured. According to official reports, RCMP received an active shooter call at approximately 1:20 PM on February 10, triggering an immediate emergency response. At the local medical center, around 25 individuals were screened and treated for non-life-threatening injuries. Amid the unfolding crisis, the Prime Minister’s Office confirmed that Mark Carney suspended his planned Germany visit, including his scheduled appearance at the Munich Security Conference, citing the national emergency response. External Affairs Minister Dr S Jaishankar, while speaking at the Munich Security Conference on February 17, affirmed India’s strong ties with Western countries in Munich. He said, “I think, it's important today to make a distinction, between being non-West and anti-West, I would not only characterise India as a country, which is non-West but which has an extremely strong relation with the Western countries, getting better by the days.” In his speech, External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar on Saturday reaffirmed India's stand and commitment to buy Russian oil despite respective sanctions on Moscow amid the military conflict with Ukraine, saying it should not be a problem for others.
